Many years ago when I was doing some mass baking, a friend walked in and said ‘Gosh, this looks like Martha’s kitchen!’. Well, I suppose I’ve always been a bit of a Martha… I like to be making, doing, creating, concocting… Now, Martha’s Kitchen has taken on a new lease of life. Much of what I make is from what you might call ‘surplus stock’. An over-crop of fruit or vegetables from an allotment, or from the market at the end of the day… bottles and jars that would otherwise be thrown away… odds and ends of ribbons and card… old picture frames… special offers... And why? I hate waste... I raise awareness… I support my youth work as well as making a small living … And I thoroughly enjoy doing it.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, please consider a bespoke piece of custom artwork. Whilst there is a limit to the designs available [some things simply don't work on bottles or even on suncatchers] I will always discuss your requirements, and do my best to create something totally individual for you..
I love cooking. In particular, I love making preserves… but I don’t have enough people at home to eat them. So many of my friends seem to have surplus fruits and vegetables from gardens and allotments - I even grow some of my own. And then there’s ‘wonky’ fruits in between times… obviously, all my jars are reused as well. Upcycling to the nth degree...
